Short Biography
Jonathan has over 24 years’ experience in river engineering and restoration, urban drainage design, strategic catchment management, and flood risk policy. He provides considerable expertise in multi-disciplinary project management, flood risk policy, and strategic planning.
He has been involved with over 12 Strategic Flood Risk Assessments, is a regular expert witness at planning inquiries and has provided assistance to the Environment Agency in policy development. He directs JBA’s portfolio of 14 Catchment Flood Management Plans, using Strategic Environmental Assessment to aid objective led multi-criteria appraisals.
He has pioneered the assessment of non-structural responses to flood risk in the Thames Estuary strategy. He was chief engineer on two of the largest river restoration projects in the UK: the Manchester Airport Bollin diversion, and Stamford Brook.
