In 1988 Steve established
his own landscape practice which has grown and evolved over
the years
into Maslen Environmental
Ltd. The practice, as well as undertaking landscape planning
and design, undertakes environmental impact assessment work
and has involved Steve providing evidence on both landscape
impacts
and agricultural impacts for government agencies and commercial
clients.
Steve is chair of the Landscape Institute Accreditation Review
Group for the landscape courses run at Leeds Metropolitan University. |

Bill has built up a considerable body of experience in the planning, design and implementation of landscape projects since qualifying in 1983. He rose through Anthony Walker and Partners to become a partner with BHWB in 1995 and established his own landscape consultancy “2B” in 1998.
After ten successful years, 2B's work was merged with Maslen's to provide clientswith a greater breadth and depth of skills to adapt to climate change.
Bill has developed specialist capability in visualisation techniques, particularly the use of 3D computer modeling, photomontage and video through web based access. These skills will be brought to bear on our clients schemes, for example through demonstrating landscape options to stakeholders and communities. |

Katherine Shaw |

Katherine joined Maslen Environmental in 1997,
after gaining a distinction in Landscape Architecture at Leeds
Metropolitan University. She took a break from work in 2004
following the birth of her second child and rejoined us in
2006. Katherine is a Chartered Landscape Architect and her
project work includes major wetland habitat creation on the
South Humber Bank, working closely with community trusts on
woodland management projects, researching the potential for
extending community woodlands across closed landfill sites
for the National Urban Forestry Unit and supporting various
bids for funding from Heritage Lottery, LIFE, ERDF Objective
2, Forestry Authority and Landfill Tax amongst others. Katherine
has provided project management support to the Environment
Agency for the innovative £10 million managed retreat
project at Alkborough on the Humber Estuary and more recently
has worked on a landscape visioning project for the Mosslands
near Manchester. She was specifically responsible for historical
research, landscape character, planning research and writing
the vision. Katherine has excellent communication skills, which
have been employed in the preparation of Environmental Statements,
Proofs of Evidence, project publicity material, award submissions
and funding applications. |

David joined Maslen Environmental
Ltd. in August 2000 after graduating from Edinburgh College
of Art/Heriot-Watt University. David specialises in landscape
design work at all levels from the strategic to detail design.
David's current workload includes a landscape and visual impact
assessment for a major wind turbine
project.
David has worked closely with the client and various consultees
to develop an inclusive strategy for pre-planning public
consultation.
In addition David has been working closely
with Queen Street School Preservation Trust providing contract
management advice and was responsible for contract management
of advanced archaeological studies associated with the building's
restoration. David's other recent project work has included
minerals planning work, design of restoration proposals,
preparation
of production information, tender management of two contracts
for Egstow Quarry, Clay Cross and working with ENCIA Consulting
providing design advice for composters in the Yorkshire Region
on behalf of Recycling Action Yorkshire (RAY) -
a regional 2.5 year recycling and market development programme,
initiated by Yorkshire Forward in partnership
with key regional and national stakeholders. |

Laura joined Maslen Environmental
in 2005, bringing to the Company practical experience of countryside
management. Laura has worked as a Countryside Ranger and Assistant
Site Manager at the Ogden Country Park in Calderdale. Since
joining us she has worked to support the Humberhead Levels
and Moors Partnership, including the preparation of funding
bids to Heritage Lottery and Regional Development Agency. Laura
has worked on the Mosslands Visioning project, researching
and providing the point of contact between the consultancy
team and the client team. Laura is involved in the Company's
environmental performance activities and provided support to
waste minimisation clubs, research support for environmental
appraisals and advice on emerging sustainable construction
related policies. |

Paul joined Maslen Environmental in 2006, after
working as an independent Landscape Consultant in the northwest
of England. Paul's landscape career started in horticulture.
Paul initially studied horticulture with Leeds City Council
Parks Department before qualifying
with the Royal
Botanical
Diploma
in Horticulture from the Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh.
He has also studied at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Paul
was responsible for setting
up and running NVQ qualification courses in horticulture
at Edinburgh's Telford College.
Paul provides Maslen Environmental
with in-depth
horticultural knowledge and experience. He continues his
interests
in botany with plant hunting expeditions with the Liverpool
Museums Department of Botany and Botanical Society of the
British Isles. Recently Paul contributed to a new publication
'The Flora of County Cork', Ireland. Paul has worked on
a range
of design projects, including heritage gardens and
park restoration projects funded through the Heritage Lottery
Fund.
He also
has excellent landscape management experience.

Elizabeth has built up experience in the design and construction of landscape projects at a variety of scales. Elizabeth ran her own specialist Garden Design practice for 10 years before joining 2B in 1998 to work on larger scale projects such as schools, housing and public open space design. Elizabeth has now built up considerable experience in schools and play area design work which she brings to the Maslen team. |

Jessie has recently qualified with a 2:1 in Landscape
Architecture at Leeds Metropolitan University. Jessie's interests
include photography and she is currently being used on a range
of projects photographing and preparing presentation boards and

Prior to joining Maslen Environmental Janet worked
for 11 years for a UK leading supplier of waste container systems
with roles including Customer Services Manager, Business Development
Manager and National Sales Manager, with responsibility for
a team of 5 regional managers and company turnover of £15
million. Her experience includes domestic and trade waste collection
systems and recycling schemes. Janet joined Maslen Environmental
in 1998 after a family break of 4 years and since 2003 she
has been able to use the experience gained from her previous
management
roles to assist with the development and management of Company
projects, including co-ordinating funding applications, financial
management and reporting procedures. |

Stephanie joined Maslen
Environmental Ltd in 2007, having worked for ASH Design and
Assessment, a firm of landscape architects
in Glasgow, since qualifying as a landscape architect at Edinburgh
College of Art. Stephanie has worked on a variety of landscape
design, environmental improvement and environmental assessment
projects, including a feasibility study on the use of planting
to control coal dust emissions; project management and landscape
and visual impact assessment for the production of a number
of wind farm and hydroelectric scheme environmental statements;
landscape design for a technology park and landscape and experiential
analysis for a proposed canal gateway development.
Prior to
qualifying as a landscape architect, Stephanie worked as
a freshwater ecologist for the Scottish Environment Protection
Agency (SEPA), the Environment Agency and its predecessor
the
National Rivers Authority. During her time at SEPA she was
involved in their Habitat Enhancement Initiative, providing
information and advice on aquatic habitat restoration, protection
and enhancement. |
