Princes Soft Drinks, Bradford
Wind Turbine Landscape & Visual Impact Assessment

Maslen Environmental was appointed in 2006 to carry out a landscape & visual impact assessment on behalf of Princes Soft Drinks, Bradford for a proposed wind turbine.

In addition to undertaking the landscape and visual impact assessment we prepared and submitted an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) screening request to Bradford Council to determine whether the project required a full assessment under the terms of the Town and Country Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment)(England & Wales) Regulations 1999.

Following Bradford Council's response stating a full EIA was not required further negotiation was needed to agree the scope of studies required to support the eventual planning application. Although formal EIA was not required a comprehensive Environmental Report was prepared which included all topics ordinarily studied as part of an EIA.

A comprehensive public consultation exercise was undertaken to engage with local communities. A mobile exhibition unit was used and a four-day roadshow visited a number of different areas in the immediate vicinity to allow people the opportunity to view proposals. Following this further special neighbourhood forum meetings were held locally before an application was submitted in May 2008.
